Experience

Larence R. Kozma has been an attorney for over 30 years. Larry served for 20 years in the Oakland County Prosecutor’s office where he handled thousands of felony and misdemeanor cases. He has tried hundreds of felony cases as well as hundreds of misdemeanor cases. Larry held the positions of Senior and Principal Trail Attorney, Chief of the Warrants Division, and Chief of Legal Operations, as well as handling a criminal docket in Circuit Court and District Court. He handled civil actions dealing with environmental law, including the Stablex Landfill Litigation, voter fraud, nuisance abatement, and injunctive actions. Larry was also an instructor at the Oakland County Police Academy.

While Chief of Legal Operations, Larence R. Kozma was third in command of the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office. He was responsible for the management of legal operations, including direct supervision of six division chiefs, the unit supervisor of the narcotics unit, and the legal performance of 100 Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys.

For the past ten years, Larence R. Kozma has operated a private practice as an attorney and counselor at law with offices in Clarkston and Lapeer. He has handled criminal law cases, civil litigation, business law, contract law, torts, probate matters, landlord and tenant law. Larry’s practice has involved handling cases in over 30 Districts Courts in Michigan. He has also practiced in the Circuit Courts, Federal District Court, and the State Appellate Courts.

Larence R. Kozma has formerly held the elected position of Township Trustee for Independence Township, and an appointed position on the independence Township Zoning Board of Appeals. Larry has previously served on the North Oakland County Girl Scout Board of Directors. While at the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office Larry held the position of Veteran Preference Hearing Officer for the County of Oakland, and also while at the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office represented the Office at the Community Corrections Board meetings. Larry has also held the position of Detroit Police Officer, district court officer, and teacher.
